HISTORY OF CYPRIANA
FROM CITY STREETS…
Cypriana started was only a dream from chef Maria Kaimakis and Vasso Yiannouris. At the time they both were selling cars when they realized that the car industry was not their passion. Once this realization came, they decided to bring the love of Cypriot food to Baltimore. Cypriana started as a simple food cart in downtown Baltimore. Maria and Vasso would serve popular items like falafel and chicken pita. The popularity of the cart only grew and huge crowds.
TO LOCAL FAVORITE…
People would line up along the block, sometimes even wrapping around the corner, to get their hands on the Mediterranean fare. They later opened a location in the food court of the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Shock Trauma Center. This spot was a hit, even being rated “Best Hospital Food” by City Paper.
COMMUNITY STAPLE…
Eventually, they transitioned to a full-service restaurant in the Roland Park neighborhood of Baltimore. This allowed them to expand their menu and offer a wider range of Mediterranean dishes.
…AND NOW HERE!
